Self Referral For Local Services
Most referrals to other specialists will require you seeing or speaking with a GP, however, there are some services locally, listed below that you are able to make self-referrals to.
Podiatry
If you are 16 years of age or over with foot problems and registered with a Heywood, Middleton & Rochdale GP you can now self-refer to Podiatry. Parents or guardians can refer their children under the age of 16 years.
The following problems can be self-referred:
- Foot infection
- Ingrowing Toenail
- Thickened nail
- Corns/Callus
- Foot related knee pain
- Previous foot surgery
- Achilles/ankle pain
- Foot ulcer
- Pained curved nail
- Dry skin
- Heel pain
- Painful flat feet
- Forefront pain
Please do not self-refer for the following conditions:-
- Routine nail cutting and skin care including corns and callus in healthy patients
- Verruca
- Bunions
- Fungal Nail Infections
Please ask at reception for a podiatry self referral leaflet.
Physiotherapy
Patients can now self-refer to Physiotherapy Service.
Patients can contact the surgery for information regarding how to do this and who this service is appropriate for.
