Order repeat prescriptions

There are several ways you can order your repeat prescription:

  • Using the NHS app
  • Using our GP online system called Patient access
  • Bring the white slip from the right hand side of your prescription and drop off at the surgery
  • Send a request via Patchs
  • Order through your nominated pharmacy

We ask you only order medicine when needed.  Please check how many days’ medicine you have before ordering a new prescription.  Please don’t order until you have 7 to 10 days of medication left.   It takes the surgery 2-3 working days to issue a prescription.

Collecting your prescriptions

You can usually collect your prescription from the pharmacy 3 to 5 working days after you have ordered it.

You will need to choose a pharmacy to collect your prescription from. We call this nominating a pharmacy.

You can change your nominated pharmacy at any time:

  • By using the NHS app
  • At any pharmacy that accepts repeat prescriptions

Prescriptions can then be collected from reception, or sent to you if you have used a self-addressed envelope.

We also have several local pharmacists who arrange to collect prescriptions from the surgery so that you can collect your medication directly from the pharmacy.

See reception for more details.

Medication Reviews

If you have a repeat prescription, we may ask you to come in for a regular review. We will be in touch when you need to come in for a review.

What to do with old prescriptions

Take it to the pharmacy you got it from.

Do not put it in your household bin or flush it down the toilet.

Questions about your prescriptions

If you have questions about your medicine, your local pharmacists can answer these. They can also answer questions on medicines you can buy without a prescription.

If you would like to speak to someone at the GP surgery about your prescription:

  • Send us a non-urgent query online via Patchs
  • Phone us for advice after 10am on 01706 643183

The NHS website has information on how your medicine works, how and when to take it, possible side effects and answers to your common questions.

Find a pharmacy

Many pharmacies are open until late and at weekends. You do not need an appointment.

Most pharmacies have a private consultation room where you can discuss issues with pharmacy staff without being overheard.
