PRACTICE NEWS

“If you have any communication/information needs relating to disability, impairment or sensory loss that you want us to know about, please speak to our reception team so we can record your preferred method of contact and ensure you can receive your health information in a format you can understand, for example large print.”

 

 We are now providing an electronic prescribing service.  If you nominate a preferred local pharmacy we can send your prescriptions directly to them electronically.  The advantage of this service is that you will not have to collect the prescription from the surgery, simply collect the medication from your pharmacy.  If you are interested, please go to your preferred pharmacy and they can arrange.

 

We now have an on-line service for making appointments and ordering prescriptions at the surgery.  If you are interested in this service and have not already registered, please speak to the receptionists.

 

PATIENT PARTICIPATION GROUP

This group is made up of patient representatives, general practitioners and management staff.  The group has now met three times and are in the process of discussing the views put forward from the questionnaires at the PPG meetings to come up with an action plans.

PATIENT NHS CHECKS

You may be entitled to an NHS Health Check please check with Reception.

This involves an appointment with the Practice Nurse who will record medical details, check height, weight, blood pressure and relevant blood tests.  She will then review your case following the results.

Patient Participation Group

At present we have 14 members of the PPG (9 female, 5 male). We will be holding regular meetings every 6 months.

                                                                         

Action Plan :

Online patient access

There is a national push to encourage patients to access appointments and prescriptions on line.  This will allow greater access to primary care services.  The PPG is keen to support the practice in this endeavour. The practice will be liaising with the online access service provider to enable patients to book complex nurse appointments, thus increasing the range of services available online. 

The PPG will also support the practice with community training to empower older people to use information technology. 

Closed Facebook page for PPG members

In order to facilitate a virtual PPG for those unable to attend meetings, the practice will create a closed Facebook page.  This is currently under development.
